Some of you may have met my friend Dave at shows he isn't a "forum" person but asked me to do a thread for him on here so here goes...

Current Spec:

Astra VXR Nurb
Eibach Sportline Springs
Whiteline RARB
Stage 3 courtney map
Courtney Intercooler
Remus with Sports cat removed
CDTI Airbox


So first of to get it down the unit




Shot of the engine bay




Time to get to work, First remove this...





Went to pick up some bits, weather was crap saw this on the way.... whoops




New bits, engine mounts





Guage conversion



Mocal Oil cooler



Alcon 6 pots 363mm irrc



Ally radiator



Carbon boot spoiler done by streamline carbon (Mark elsworth old one) Was easier to swap boot lids

Took the wheels off for refurb, not just a blow over....

Would have described my VXR as anything but fragile! Took 3 years of abuse and 25,000 miles at different levels of tune without any real problems

I beg to differ, my car had over £3.5k spent on repairs and it only just turned 4yrs old with less than 30k on the clock.

I still think about buying another one then my head rules my heart lol

I wouldn't say they are.... I have owned mine 2 years from 15k standard to stage 3 for another 15k and all its done is popped a boost pipe off once....

Had alittle more time on Dave's car tonight so I got cracking...

First off remove these small brakes



Modify the lower ball joint heat sheild as the Alcons caught them



All fitted with stud and nut conversion



Next was engine mounts and Radiator

thats going on mine, has vibe insert now

Got more time to crack on with work

Wheels got refurbed at platinum alloys in swindon, do all my wheels highly advise them.



Dave came down and got cleaning the cooler etc




Fitted the alloy rad, going back together

That saw why I winked.


The A/C condensor looks very bent, is that because of the bigger intercooler?

Yer every VXR I have worked on is like this.... I've seen standard ones bent too!

Had abit more time tonight, First job was to do cambelt kit and water pump as it was due anytime now...

Old parts



New water pump and cambelt kit including pulleys fitted



Next was to fit the Vibe engine mounts, As Dave wants to keep his A/C the mount needed a little modding due to the A/C pipe going under it.




Painted the bracket where cut and fitted longer bolts as the standard ones were to short..

M32 same as normal VXR iirc

What sort of power and torque can they take safely? Not sure what the standard power of a VXR burg is?

M32 can take good power if the bearing mod is done mate. There chocolate otherwise.

Looks really good that dale. Nice motor that and a credit to your mate
