and i definately recommend this as an alternative to K&N and Pipercross induction kits. I have no flat spots anymore and it revs much more smoothly now. Sounds just as good, if not better than my old K&N. It has also made my car more responsive when pulling away from traffic lights and stuff. It picks up straight away now, no sluggish pauses before it revs. I'm pretty sure it has made my exhaust louder too
Do this people!!! After all its free and doesnt take long at all
I'm using my normal panel filter at the moment, would a PVD or K&N panel filter make it even better???

I prefer my air box for performance and sound. Just drill underneath where the panel filter sits and remember not to drill on the side facing the engine I drilled about 15 holes, each the size of a 2p coin on the front, bottom near the wing, and side that faces the wing. Piece of p!ss. No pics though.

theres a panel at the bottom of the box bout 2 inch wide and runs the legnth of the box
on the wing side of the box
it unclips leaves a massive hole and if u change your mind you can clip it back in

surely this would bypass the filter, leaving anything smaller than 2p to feck ur engine up....im thinking inuction kit now!

No as u drill under the filter so anything that might get in the air box would still need to go through the filter panel.

Nothin gets thru cos the air comin in the holes you drilled still has to pass up thru the filter, thats y u hav 2 drill ur holes below where the filter sits or u really will feck ur engine up!

also inside the lid of the airbox is a tapered pipe-big to small take it out it increases airflow.

anybody else unclipped this panel on their air box as adam d has. I hadn't herd of this before. Thinking of doing it myself. Anyone got any worries bout this method, any increased chance of fecking e engine up etc?

nomore risk of fcuking your engine than using a cone filter. infact there is no risk atall unless you make holes above the filter.

i cut the entire bottom of my box out- i found the noise not as loud as if you drill holes, but the performace seemed better- marginal differance anyway

would covering your air box in foil be worth while? would it actualy reflect the heat of the engine?

(BTW i'm a newbie to cars and not hte most practical person around.) just had a look at my air box. Would anybody like to explain a few basics about the air box with pictures. I could'nt see this panel that you can unclip underneath, i physically couldn't get to it. Does the air box lift out easily?
