Been a few of these, they're always a load of shit - brakes would work, pull it out of gear, ignition off etc. etc.

Pretty lucky to not crash doing that speed. Mind you, the french probably know how to the highways properly and don't sit in the outside lane of an empty motorway.

Are they push button start? Not sure if you can stop them whilst driving... Elctronic pedals and auto maybe? Must be auto or you would dip clutch

Similar thing happened to my dad about 7 years ago on the M1, car just started accelerating, brakes couldn't really slow it down so yanked it out of gear and it rolled t a stp. Couldn't turn of the ignition so engine was bouncing off the limiter, luckily fire brigade got there before the whole car went up in smoke but engine died. Having sad that may have not be so lucky if it was an automatic car.

Can you not move the gear lever to neutral on an auto whilst it's moving? Never tried so wouldn't know

Sometimes, depends on the gearbox.
Most push button starts will switch off if you hold the button in for a set length of time, my bmw did, even when moving.

That's about as scary as it is unbelievable, but I guess in theory if everything is electronic rather than mechanical in terms of pedals, ignition and gear selection then anything could happen.
Must be pretty cool cruising along with police escorts though
Luckily I'd only do about 80miles at full chat so no chance of me hopping any borders

It says his car was modified, but not in which way.
It also says "disabled motorist". Disabled by the fact he couldn't brake or disabled as in, no use of his legs hence a modified car?
The latter might be the explanation. Faulty wiring of hand controls for gas and brake?

Id imagine going through/between barriers at 125 mph to be pretty scary

Epilepsy is classed as a disability when it comes to driving, that could be the only reason for mentioning that.

People diagnosed with epilepsy aren't normally allowed to hold a license at all, I thought!?
Might be different in France, mind you...

Have you seen how people drive in France?! I'm not entirely convinced they even have to pass a test

Depends in the severity I think, I know someone who suffered one fit at home and had a 12 month 'ban' but is allowed to drive now.
Not sure how having 2 epileptic fits while driving figures in the equation though

There was a lad at school who had fits often encouraged by stress/pressure scenario's so maybe being stuck at 125mph qualifies for such circumstances and encouraged the fits.
Or something like that
