just got a new laptop and hate this windows 8 homegroup thing where all the apps and stuff are. I just want a normal desktop like windows 7/vista with a start button in bottom left so can this crap be turned off?

Nope, what I do is stick 'desktop' as the top left tile then when you've started up, hit enter.

You'll get used to the tiles instead of a start menu, just hit the start key and type the program you want

Also to get a start like bar in your desktop download a program called CLASSICSHELL

that's shit! I will try what you said pow. the laptop has a turboboost function but cant find the program to try it!
