I am looking at selling the S2000 as it just doesn't get used enough, once maybe twice a month at that, hasn't been used since the end of October.
I drive the 172 all day everyday and tbh i really enjoy it, and it gets a bit of abuse, and im not to fussed about it as it was a sub 2K car.
Looking at chopping both in and getting something half decent, dont want to spend any more than 7K as im spending a small fortune on the house this year.
Anyway I narrowed it down to
DC5 - Nice but overprice IMO
M3 - Had a e46 before enjoyed it but dont want any expensive servicing
VXR - seems to tick all the boxes
and the VXR is half the price of the S2000 on insurance.

i'd suggest go and test drive one the shape does grow on you. If you like driving the clio you''l like the megane has to be the F1/R26 though

How about a 130i M Sport; not sure how close to £7K you could get one for but a quick search finds this for a little more

Out of interest, why don't you use the S2000? Is it purely a weekend toy, or too much as a daily?

VXR: Gearbox.
R26 would be my shout, especially as you drive a 172 which is a similar style of feel and feedback. VXR will fell numb and cumbersome and disjointed in comparisson.
However, they are lovely cars!

DC5 over VXR all day every day. Much rarer, better handling and it's a Honda, and you'll know fine well how reliable it'll be.

its loud, its low, it lives in the garage with the hardtop on and its just quicker to jump in the clio and get going.

Don't test drive a standard one. You'll be very disappointed.
