Got a battery for the Astra. However, the current battery connectors are covered in a load of grease. Do i need to add some grease and if so what do i buy?

I didn't add any of this grease when i did the Corsa battery although that's still got some dodgy drain on it

It's just to stop the terminals corroding. Can use Vaseline or Copper Slip etc...

Worth doing?

Think the car will be going in the next 12 months anyway. I've just bought a £45 battery off eBay so i don't have to keep jump starting / charging it.

Makes no difference to the battery just stops it corroding on so if you ever come to take the terminals off you don't have to hit them when they've corroded on they'll just slip off. Just scrape a small bit off from them now and put on the inside of the connectors then slide them on the new terminals job done.

Never do understand why they stock half a pot all over the connectors a leads ect a little will be fine

Make sure you don't put grease on the sides of the battery terminals or the insides of the terminal connectors...
