Been at my workplace for 7 years. Handed my notice in Friday, and I'm getting spoken to like shit on a daily basis now. One of the directors cannot accept I'm moving on

Anyone done this recently?

do you get paid sick leave?
If so and they really give you shit, a sick day or two would really annoy them.

There are directors out there who are only interested in meeting targets.

Pisses me off when people don't stay til the end - lack of respect for other colleagues.

Of course management need to act professionally as well.

Sort of people who take the last weeks off sick are probably the sort of people they are happy to get rid of.

I left my "old" job about a month ago. Left on good terms and worked my arse off the last shift. Turned out my new job was utter shite & they welcomed me back without even making it awkward. Started back there two days later.

Never burn bridges, your new job could be utter shite!

I'd been telling them I was better than their shit job for years. Just never got the right opportunity to move on.
When I did, they didn't care because I was right all along and still didn't care about their shit job or attitudes

If I ever handed in my notice it wouldn't go down too well but I think they'd know I hadn't made the decision lightly etc etc.

I would potentially ask for a bit of gardening leave mind.

Handed my notice in back in July, business appeared upset but didn't give me grief, my line manager was spot on and supportive as he knew it was a career decision. Notice was 2 months and stuck me on gardening leave for a month towards the end, cushy month off paid! Now ive sorted my old line manager a job with the new company!

Done this twice now.

First place i hated, was there just a few months. Everyone there wanted to be better than you. Sent an e-mail, 10 minutes later i was walking out with a smile on my face.

Second time i was bored of driving 90 miles a day plus visiting customer sites. Had been there 7 years and was just time to move on. Contracted to them for a few months doing 3 days until they replaced me with someone older, cheaper and local.

It was sad to leave I had a leaving do, lost track of time and cost me £90 in a taxi to get home

Done it twice, as I left to travel, they took me back both times as they know what's good for them.

I was out the loop in my last few months but then most of the work related to the upcoming academic year in a new building, neither of which I wouldn't be working on, so not really important that I was involved anyway.

Depends on the situation. Not even sure I saw anyone from my immediate team in the last 3-4 weeks.
