Seen one very local to me and could get it for about £2500

Silver, 97k all serviced up etc

Done my research about the problems they can have but not sure if it would make a good reliable daily work hack? My VRS currently does about 20-23 MPG around town, will do 35 on a run. Surely the Type R will be better than this? All I'm doing is town driving so pretty much everything will be crap on fuel. I wish I didn't like cars and could get a 1 litre corsa and save loads of cash

They're not great on fuel, i shouldn't imagine the mpg would be too different from your octavia.

It will most likely be worse on mpg if anything, however it will be just as reliable and 10x more fun

Hmmmmm I just don't see how they can be so bad when kept out of VTEC obviously I'll drive it hard sometimes but I'd expect 26-27 driven normally?

When the guy at work got one about the time I got corrado I always thought the interior wouldn't age or wear too well.

His was very reliable. Paint wasn't too great. Loads of type r logos on them. Easy two on each elevation.

Preferred my driving position but the civic was more spacious. But who needs space in the front tbh.

Looked easy to take apart mechanical wise.

If theoreticly i had owned one, it wouldve been in vtec a lot as its fun. Especially if it say just sold a mapped cupra before it so been used to boost.

Clio 182 much better bet for economy

Apparently the fuel consumption is bad because you need to hit vtec in built up area's.

CTR is the WORST car i've had for fuel consumption.

Spent about £1500 on petrol in 6 months ownership.
And i do about 30 miles a week to work and back

The DC5 is pretty good on fuel tbh. No more expensive than other cars i've had if you're just moochin about. It gets 250 miles down to Dorset on half a tank too.

Just depends how much you want to 'enjoy' yourself.

Other than sporty supermini's I can't think of a petrol car that is particuarly great on fuel.

I think you might just have to bite the bullet and go diesel mate
