Been wanting to do something in front room of my house since we bought it two years ago. But as it was questionably the best decorated we have been working through the rest of the house first; also wanted to get UPVC double glazing fitted throughout the house before spending money on doing it.
Anway here is was from the agents advert
Then when we moved in I removed the double doors and we had it as through lounge dinning room. I'll try and add some pics later
Then at Christmas we started; new TV and sofa bought. This meant blocking the double doors which makes it feel more homely.
Then a few weeks ago a bought a paper scrapper and the fun begun; took bloody ages to do with a scrapper and hot water only!! Esp the greeny/blue paper as this really was crap and came off in small bits!! Anyway with that out the way lastnight I started the rip the fireplace out.
too..
Then a few moments later its out

Nice space apart from redecoration the biggest job i see would be filling in the double doors with stud wall or blockwork depending on wall type.

Yeah that's what I'm doing; it's a stud wall so going to board it up. I just put the doors on temp as I got the sofa in December.
Started building a false chimney breast tonight

I'm building a false chimney and sinking my tv and soundbar with built in blu ray into it. We have been here over two years now and put the fire on twice; so thought no point putting another in

Have done a little of the boxing in; didnt get as much time as I hoped but starting to come together
Then rigged up the LED's around the TV; also have a couple more strips to go around the soundbar.

I've attempted the LED's behind TV many times but always taken them off because it never looks as good/is at all practical for anything, as it does in some perfect picture someone has taken.

We have LED's under our TV unit, turned them on about twice in 3 years.
Would do my head in having them on around the TV.

The boxing in is now finished; have one more section to go on but awaiting a IR extender for the sky which should be here soon and then that board will go on with an access panel fitted to it. Re-wired it on a fussed switch and fed the cable through for the sub which is behind the corner sofa.
Hopefully will put the spot lights in this week and start boarding up the double doors then its ready for plastering, painting and new carpet

No getting a pro in for that; as having the whole room done as blocking up doors and putting spots in the ceeling before it gets done.
