sort code and account number, possibly which bank and your name.

You need to know the bank name if you're paying in branch, because you can't pay into a Natwest bank from a Halifax branch for example

Erm yes you can!
I've done a few to Germany in time and a few in the uk,
Never have I known what bank they were!
All they need is sort code and account number.

His saying you need bank details if paying directly into tat bank via cash.
Although, it is technically possible to pay into a (for example) barclays at a HSBC bank, although dont expect them to do it, as it earns them
No money, and no way for bank to track it is goes missing.
Anyway, you need sort code and account number, name too.
