Hi Guys

Anyone know where I can get a North America Map for my Tom Tom VIA without paying. Its for my road trip in July so have a bit of time yet

will take a look - is it easy to get

My previous Garmin had an SD slot so had the MAP on an SD card. The TOM TOM suggest you need to download the map to it

Phone app not an option? That's what I used when we were in the states last.

Think it was a Navigon or TomTom app.

could be - do you get data charges though. Have an Iphone but always have data roaming off when travelling

No, that's the point of getting a dedicated navigation app over using the built in maps app. Works with data roaming turned off.

Worked really well for us. Keep in mind you'll want a charger for the cigarette lighter, as it drains the phone battery.

Not free, but cheaper than buying or renting a GPS in the states (when we checked, at least).

Also saves the hassle of carrying an extra device as well as giving the benefit of always having the GPS on you, even when not in the car.
