Anyone got one? I fancy one, my worktop is a bit naff but the rest of the kitchen is pretty nice, I reckon a granite one will make a big difference.
What sort of price should I look to pay? I had the following quote:
Worktop 1: 2600mm x 650mm
Worktop 2: 2850mm x 650mm
Worktop 3: 2250mm x 650mm
Recessed Drain Cutout
Rectangle Cutout for Hob
£2060 inc VAT.
I thought that sounded a lot
I was expecting about £1k, maybe a bit more

2k seems to be a common figure.
Have you looked at the composite ones that look like granite but you can get different colours? Similar price I think and look pretty smart.

I've not looked but a quick Google suggests they don't look as good and usually cost more than granite

Personally I'd have Corian every time. Granite can still be nice but has been superseded. Plus it's going to get more expensive due to it being more scarce.
Oh and I'm an ex kitchen/bathroom fitter.

Saying that this was the last kitchen we did and there Granite looked brilliant. Not seen much of it. The blackish dots are actually a deep ruby red in the flesh, picture doesn't to it justice at all. It looks like the surface of Jupiter or something.

P.s those brown dots are defects hence why I took the picture
Also the lights look really close to the cupboards but the light spread isn't that crazy in real life.

I've forwarded figures to a mate who runs a granite worktop business.

Nice one - thanks mate.
I've found a local company that comes with good reviews, but they won't remove the original worktop or remove the hob/sink. So I would need a plumber and gas engineer in as well, seems like a load of hassle. Would rather have one company do the whole lot.

Just make sure its 100% sealed. I know of 3 people (all in different areas) who have had Granite worktops and had no end of problem with them permanently marking from stuff like wet cups and bottles.

Nor me mate He got one of the sales girls to run it through. Materials only price could probably be quoted if you'd like, once quoted, could ask what kind of discount I could get etc.
