How good are Astravans for daily use as a workhorse for heavy loads? My dad is a roofer and his current van (99' Ford Ranger) has just shat it's belts and as parts are very expensive he needs a new van.
I've found a few nice ones on Auto Trader with ply loadspaces and roof bars so ready to go.
What should we look out for? Whats better for hauling loads, 1.7 or 1.9?
Is there anything similar? Budget is £2500, maybe a little more if something perfect comes along.
Any help would be great

We have an 08 plate Astra H van for doing scrap runs, towing cars etc and it's great. We have the 1.3 cdti and it's mega. 6 speed, plenty of torque so it pulls really well.

I'm a joiner and had an astra van. Good van but useless if your dad is a roofer. I had my astra van for 9 months then got a mwb transit.

What about a Combo. Bit more room in the back of one of them for tools and easier access too
