I had the opportunity to spend the day at Bruntingthorpe proving ground on Saturday to have a bit of fun in the R8 with a load of other German cars (as well as two Ferraris that randomly turned up, friends of the organisers) so thought the pics and videos might be of interest to some of you! It was a fantastic day out, I had about 20 runs but had to call it quits as I was running out of petrol and was LITERALLY running of fumes by the time I limped to the nearest petrol station 5 miles away  The R8 has a 90l tank and I managed to get 92.66l into it :-S
Here are a few pics of the other cars anyway 
This runs 11s 1/4 miles :-)
A 5.2 V8 Heffner Twin Turbo R8 that went through the traps at 205mph, first R8 ever to get over 200 on the runway there :-)
A RUF tuned CGT
A stripped, caged and tuned TT RS running around 550bhp and was getting mid 180s
599 GTO
Same guy also owned a 458 :-)
The two R8 4.2V8s side by side, unfortunately we didn't get to go up against each other on the runway though
My favourite shot of the day, although I'm a bit biased! All three R8s together :-)
Those are all the pics I took but I also got a few videos. Fastest car of the day with the 911 9 excellence 17 which was running over 900bhp and got a top speed of 215, followed by the RUF CGT which I think managed 208. Quick video of the two here going side by side;

This is a video from inside my car of me vs the 5.2 V10 Twin Turbo R8. I had him off the line as I was using launch control but you can see the HUGE difference in power as soon as we hit the straight!

It was only the second time I'd ever used launch control on the car, still not sure if I do actually need to switch it off between uses or not but I tried once or twice with the same sequence of steps and it didn't work so I just tried "switching it off and on again to see if it fixed it" and it seemed to

Are you quite local to Bruntingthorpe then? It was a private event with no spectators though so no more than 100 people there max, if that...

All of the videos on my phone were landscape but my mate isn't the best cinematographer in the world and he did his in portrait

Some nice machines there. Would have thought the TT R8 would have reeled you in alot quicker. It didn't seem to pass at alarming rate considering.
I bet a 360bhp Evo 6 would leather that bike aswell on the dual carriageway.

yeah it must have been quite a slow run for him I guess. I'm just uploading a vid now of me going up against the 9e (the one that got 215mph) and that one absolutely FLIES past me

I'm not mate, I don't mean from that perspective. Just feel like it's something you'd stick on an old Vectra, not an awesome R8  I'm just not one for badges and stickers that don't relate to the car. Just need a 'honk if you're horny' window sign complete with suction cup I remember the story tho how it upsets the god squadders locally

and Brett, yeah I know it's not to everyone's taste but I'm a very proud atheist and every time I see a car with one of those christian fish on the back it makes me really angry so I put the Darwin one on there to readdress the balance a bit :-) Also spotted another one or two round town now since getting mine which makes me smile every time I see another on the road
