Considering AP coilovers as a cheap alternative to just changing the springs on my 328i. I could get decent (H&R or Eibach) lowering springs and retain the stock bilsteins but I think the backs are a bit tired, otherwise AP coilovers are roughly the same price but I'm not sure which set up would perform best? Any advice is much appreciated.

AP's are a great all round kit. I've used them on my last two new Minis and have been really impressed. They are essentially KW V1 components.

I had AP's on my Ibiza FR and for the money they are good quality stuff.
Made the car completely different to drive and have last 60k so far (brother has the car now)

AP coilovers - £291
H&R Race or Eibach equivalent springs - around £200?
Standard Bilstein shocks are roughly £4-500 though on their own. Can get a B10 kit with lowering springs for £400.

Fair difference then!
My brother in law uses the APs on his Golf after his Bilstein PSS coilovers went crap like mine did and he's not said a bad word about them

Fantastic coilovers, comfy, better quality than the Gaz I had.
I had them on my Polo GTi and Mini, superb. The issue I had with them on my Mini wasn't APs fault it was Lohen fitted my top mounts around the wrong way on the rear causing the tops to snap off, idiots.

3 years worth everywhere from Mallory to the Ring. And in a few weeks Monza
They've covered approx 35000 miles and are still going strong. No knocks or noises. Well worth the money IMO

Excellent. Read a few comments saying they are too soft? Good to hear you're happy though.
