I've owned both there's no competition, Clio all day, I used to get around 28mpg in my 172, only ever drove it on the road, was glued to the road.

clio handles better and has twice the power of the 1.4 sport, so if its something quick you want its a no brainer really. if you would prefer a corsa then a c20xe conversion could be an option.

Clio looks better, handles better, grips more, is more powerful, has some sort of chassis feedback, has more modern options and is great on fuel.
Only downside i found was insurance was costly for what it was IMO

I went from a 1.4 sport to a 182 then went to a 1.6 sport with a mantzel. Corsa wasnt as fast or handled as well but i preferred it for some reason.

Clio all day long. Go test drive one, your mind will soon be made up.

I have a ph2 172, get alot of car for the money if you go for a full fat, half leather, digital climate control, xenons etc, my trip computer settled down to 37mpg average before i had it mapped, check cambelt and dephaser pulley have been done if its over 60/70k, i really love mine, pretty guttless under 4k but thats perfect for town driving

Nail on the head apart from insurance. I'm 23 and I'm only paying £478 fully comp
I've recently just bought a 182, around town I get 32mpg, out of town 42mpg and having some fun in the 23mpg. So perfect all rounder IMO
