Are there any websites (like ebay) where I can make a raffle to sell something instead of just selling it normally?
Does a website like that exist, or have I just come up with and stupidly shared the next big thing with the whole of cs?

Think raffles are far too complicated to run online are they not? With regards to law?

Hmmm. I did wonder if there was a gambling licence or something similar needed before it was legal to do.
I've got a signed Alex Ferguson poster which I was going to raffle off via my photography page on Facebook to gain a little more publicity.
Strike while the iron is hot n' all that

Can't you make an eBay listing for a raffle ticket and have 100 available for purchase?

Against ebay rules iirc, they normally take any raffles down

Too easy to scam with online raffles. Could make so much money if you were that way inclined

Regarding the law, it really isn't as complicated as users on this website have made it sound.

I googled it and it would appear to be more hassle than it's worth.

You need a Lotteries licence, company I work for have all the lotteries licensing and gaming licence I know it's not cheap and has to be non profit ie: donated to charity if it's a raffle

I believe you only need to be licensed if the money raised from raffle tickets is over X amount (it's a few tens of thousands iirc). So as a one off it's doable. As for a business venture it's like you say, costly for licensing.
Didn't realise about the non-profit though, although it sounds a bit bizarre if that's the case for lotteries/raffles - how do companies make their money?

We (a bank) are no longer allowed to sell raffle
Tickets.
Just get around it by saying donate a quid, and well give a free raffle ticket
