As above. What do you guys use to paint your calipers and drums? Im looking on ebay but not sure if hammerite stuff is ok

used hammerite on mine and they've been fine on all the cars i've had.

i've also used some stuff called 'foliatec' from ebay which was ok at first, but the brake dust soon became difficult to remove from the calipers and the colour dulled.

i'd recommend hammerite just because it's tried and tested and is easily available from b&q/halfords. mine are 'smooth silver':

Silver hammerite lasted the year I had my Civic, still looked like new when I sold it.

Spot on lads. I thought hammerite would be the better option, but it says nowhere about being a high temp paint. I didnt want to do them and then have to re do them because it flakes off. Whats the rough price from halfrauds or b&q? Or is it cheaper from ebay?

I had hammerite on my corsa and the paint flaked off due to some problem I had with the rear drums that caused silly high temperatures for a few hundred miles away from home.

Normal use they'll be fine

I always use normal paint that I paint the body panels with. Never had an issue

I was going to say, ive always been told any paint will last, as long as you don't do track days etc

i once used hammerite on my rear drums and it bubbled off but ive recently redone them with matt black normal spray and they are fine

I did some extensive testing of the paint you used on my brakes last weekend on some rather good A and B roads They're still red

Exactly this, makes calipers look ten times better, but obviously they need to be removed and cleaned properly, Hammerite is ok if you don't want to take them off, but give them a quick luck of paint.

If i hadent had them fitted and i didnt need my car for work i would have had them painted properly. But i think the easiest way for me will just be to hammerite them tbh.Thanks for all your input though much appreciated. Its only a corsa and its not a show car,its just the calipers are red and the rear drums are rusty and looks crap behind my freshly painted wheels.

You can do them on the car. Just wash them well with degreaser/alloy wheel cleaner and pressure washer. Sand them down, clean again with panel wipe/white spirit then mask up, aerosol etch primer then spray colour. Dry with heat gun or hair dryer. Job done.
