The fact that, as nath says, they earn huge profits, suggests that even a retard could see what was going on.
End of the day, they're a business, not a charity. Profits are everything. I don't agree with it, but if I owned a company, the last thing i'd be worried about was whether builder bill from harold hill had a hard time affording to pay for fuel.

How much do they need to recoup after the pipe split debacle? In Mexico?
Also how much of the profit goes to sustain the business/shipping/drilling/maintenance/political kickbacks etc??

The Mexico thing was only one company? That shouldn't affect the industry as a whole. If one company gets some issues to fix that doesn't mean the others should also charge more.
Also profit in the above list - as I understand profit is what's left after you've spent everything.
Revenue in, deduct the costs to run the operation and you're left with profit.
Not profit which you then spend on things. I doubt they wait to accrue an operating surplus before offsetting their costs. They'll be all over minimising their tax liabilities so it'll be spent as soon as it needs spending and profit is what they absolutely can't avoid being left with.
No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that there's no case for having a better company which re-invests what its banked. It'll be spent before its earned, anything else is a terrible way to fill in a tax return. I may be wrong.

You'll find they re invest that profit into further ventures acquisitions etc
