Some of you may know I bought a VW T4 transporter recently.
Its a 1.9TD, 2001 model in dark blue with 18" VW alloys, stainless side bars. The paint is tatty in places but its weather proof for the time being.
I plan to leave the exterior for now, theres a few patches of rust here and there in the usual places, bottom of the arches and a bit on the sills, it was MOT'd last week and there were no advisories.
Anyway, the back was plylined, i'm working through insulating it and the floor. I've ordered black carpet which i'm going to fit myself over the bank holiday weekend. Following that will be the interior cabinets and a rock n roll bed along with electrics etc.
The project is as follows and i'll add pictures as I go along.

Awesome. You need to get some luxury liner to go ontop of the sound deadening materiel! That will make it quoted some closed cell foam.
Should be interesting this!

Got my insurance today, £352 mods declared (slammed with 18" VW alloys) with Adrian Flux. I don't think the interior will fit with the arches boxed so I've taken the insulation off them and I'll carpet them with the black carpet instead. The donk who boxed the arches screwed into the wheel arch and inevitably it's developed a patch of rust, it's not major so I've waxoyled it til the winter when I'll weld a patch onto it.

Sorting the electrics with some bits I had knocking around (at work) today, just got to get some 10mm tri-rated cable from the battery and a fuse holder, might just get it from an amp wiring kit, should be easily sufficient for charging a leisure battery. I got some colour change led strips too leftover from a job, will find a way of mounting them, they are even remote controlled

Is the plan to use it as a fully kitted out camper?

Yeah, though not sure about hob, sink etc. though it would pay to do that because I can get it reclassified as a camper and benefit from cheaper insurance.

Looks that way with the 230v stuff.
How you going about hot water, cooking etc?
If you can pick up a damaged caravan cheap its well worth doing for the bits. Even the cushions and trim bits come in handy. Thats what me and the old man did with his.
Although he now has a shit half dismantled caravan in the field that he can;t get rid of

Not sure about the cooking stuff yet. I might buy a gas camping stove and cut it into the top (when I get the top) or I'll make a unit to go behind the front seats and put a sink and hob in that.

Got some RGB Tridonic colour change led's that operate from a remote today too, I'll figure a way of getting them installed inside just below the roofline.

Todays work so far.
Carpeted the plywood inside, pulled a cable in for a relay trigger. Ive never found it easy running cables through vehicles, this is no exception, the rubber cab mat is well and truly stuck down. I've run it under the side step, i'm going to have to make some trim to conceal it as it runs behind where the bulkhead used to be.
I think carpeting the metalwork inside is going to be the most arduous task.

Done a bit more on the electrics today, fitted a 3 position switch so I can switch easily between the inverter and electric hook up using the same rcd and breakers.
