Mine's more than that now, and I'm 19 and I've had a licence for over a year.. Then again I do live in Birmingham
Seriously expect to be paying £300+ a month though.
EDIT: Also as I found out, doing shitloads of quotes really does raise your premium, try to get the cheapest one asap...

Check out Quidco for cash back deals.
Aviva was cheapest for dad on his 120d at £240.
Then £70 cash back through Quidco, although not immediate, means it is super cheap.

I've found Admiral to be cheap for young drivers.
I'm 23 and paying £478 fully comp on a 182 Clio Sport. Even when I was 20/21 I was only paying £900 on a 3yr old Ibiza FR diesel.

I found Direct Line, Tesco, and Admiral to all be decent, £225 a month I'm paying from Admiral (Tesco and Direct Line were both £232 a month):
Fully comprehensive, £500 excess, what modifications my car had declared, and I'm 19 with 0 NCB and I live in a part of Birmingham that's not desirable, so, if they can quote me that cheap, you may want to give them a go.

I'd get the bus, even when I was 17, before paying 2700 to insure a car.
That's ludicrous.

Cheapest I can do though really, trying to avoid those box things because if I want to tank it home from work, which I do, then I can't have a box...
It's where I live I'm pretty sure is the issue, my postcode is deemed very high risk

If the car has an extensive list of modifications, it might be worth looking into a customs policy for a modified car like what I'm on with Graham Sykes, just done my renewal £163 for the year
