Heading to London in a couple of weeks for 7 nights, followed by 3 nights in York.

What are some good, less obvious/touristy things to do/see in London?

We're not big on ordinary sightseeing and don't care for long queues.

Recommendations for restaurants are appreciated as well.

Also, what's the best/cheapest way to buy a SIM card that'll allow us mobile data for 10 days?

Gaucho tower bridge is meant to be a lovely steakhouse to eat at. Planning on going down for a long weekend in a month or so and this restaurant will be a must.

We are looking at doing some non tourist sites ect, done the London eye and wax works want to go some shopping and enjoy the city this time

Me and the mrs are going on the 13th july going to try out the new London dungeons and ripleys believe it or not only thing we are stuck on is where to eat weve done the likes of gaucho and maxwells want something different this time

Go for Mexican food at Wahaca. Great food and pretty cheap too.

Belgo's (few locations around London) is worth a visit if you like Belgium beers/Ale's (huge selection) and mussels, steak, burgers etc.

If you fancy cocktails then Covent Garden Cocktail Club is worth a visit (you need to apply for membership on the website and it's £1 for a card which you pick up on entrance) - it's small, dark and gets busy but the cocktails are pretty damn good (more so during happy hour, 5pm-7pm, as it's 2-4-1).

For decent coffee, visit Monmouth - there's a shop in Covent Garden and one near Borough Market, although Borough Market shop gets extremely busy.

Borough Market, near London Bridge tube station, is also worth a visit - the main market is open Thursday to Saturday, otherwise it's lunch time only.

And it's worth doing the London Eye as the views are pretty spectacular on a good day. Alternatives being The Shard (~£25 each), St Paul's Cathedral etc.

Relax, eat and drink, mostly.

Wanted to see a completely different side of England, compared to London, and York came highly recommended.

Nice one, definitely something we'll do!

Are the prices there considered pretty average for London? It's cheaper than I expected (and cheaper than over here).

Belgos is indeed excellent, esp the Covent Garden one and esp for laughing at the ridiculously dressed waiters Ex girlf introduced me to them, one in Camden is also very ncie bu the one in Battersea/Clapham is worth avoiding
