Previous owner(s) of my car kept them all in the "receipts" folder. Any benefit to doing this? What exactly does it prove to a potential buyer?

All I can gather for it is that the tax on my car has gone up £100 since it was made!

Suppose it shows you're organised and keep stuff.

No real proof of anything apart from the fact it was on the road all that time and hasn't been laid up. Although that doesn't really prove that.

Fair enough. I wondered if I'd missed anything after years of throwing mine away

I had a courtesy car once that must have had at least 9 previous tax discs in the folder, behind the current one.

My OCD kicked in and I threw them out

When I got my corsa or astra, one of them, it came with about 7 previous tax discs, I thought, wtf?

I suppose it shows that the car hasn't been SORN if there aren't any gaps of time between tax. Not that that's a bad thing but it could hint towards previous engine failure or crash damage etc

I keep them always, i even buy the original sales brochures off ebay for the car. Very ocd, but i guess it makes it look well looked after when selling

My puma had every tax disc from new in it. Felt a shame to scrap it, but it shouldn't have broken in my ownership.

I can honestly say I would buy a car based on seeing old tax discs.... says a lot about the owners IMO

Trade in is a lot different to a private sale though.

I'd probably laugh if I was buying a car and the owner kept receipts for cheapo ebay bulbs.

Different if it's a xenon bulb/ballast though.

Keep the important receipts but chuck the cheap needless ones imo.

I keep every single receipt no matter how big or small, I just think it shows you have replaced things that naturally break, even bulbs, should hopefully show potential buyers that I don't just let things slide
