Hey CS,
Long time no post...!
Anyway I'm looking to start up a project this winter and have already started shopping and looking around for bits and pieces but I'm just looking for a bit of advice from all you experienced conversion veterans.....
I'm not a complete stranger to conversions as i put a XE into my old corsa B about 10 years ago
Now I'm looking at doing a C with Z20LET, i did consider returning to a B but for age and sapres and stuff I've decided C would be a better option.
I've been in conversation with a few people on CS and Migweb about corsas and engines.
Anyone got any advice of pit falls not to fall into and people companys to avoid trading with?
Question time.......
What rating of engine stand + crane will i need for maintenance / fitting
Found CS autos on migweb looks and sounds good to me anyone any experience with them ?
Where will i get a full set of silicone conversion hoses ?
LMF conversion kits, they come with shafts and hubs are the shafts direct fitting into the f23 box ?
and same with the hubs do they fit direct into corsa C hub carriers ?
I have more Q's but that will do for now..

Buy a Astra coupe turbo and use that. I bought mine for a grand and drove it about till the tax ran out. I'm pretty sure you can't get a conversion hose set. Use conversion big block hubs. Then you'll need the Corsa C CDTI gearbox mounts.
A SXI will be your best bet for a car to convert, or a base spec like I've got. Fitting the engine is easier, than a B, and wiring is also pretty straightforward.
Also sign up to Corsa C UK, everything you need to know is on there.

its all pretty much off the shelf parts, if you've done an xe in to a b then a zlet into a c will be easy! ive done a z22se in a c and all parts are genuine Vauxhall.

Good idea getting moneys worth out of the engine donor car but I'm not planning for that, want to have the engine to do over winter between offshore trips and what you mean by big block hubs?
I'm not good with the jargon at this time of day after nightshift
i did think that since the engines are of the same era as the shell then it would an easier job parts wise but I'm relieved to hear the wiring is easy aswel cause that did my head in when i put the XE in the B

The wiring is harder than an xe,
Xe must be the easiest thing in the world to wire in, it's almost colour for colour.

Big block hubs are conversion hubs. I don't know why someone would buy a unknown engine. With the astra you'll have the mounts shafts hoses cooling system gearbox loom ecu brakes parts from the exhaust. Then sell what you don't need. I found the wiring easier than a xe.

Well i plan to buy the engine strip and rebuild over winter, but with the price of the astra turbo's I've found already with a little look I'm not saying i wont do it. its an option i suppose
but as for the shell of a corsa C, I've found an SRI one nice and cheap as i want the SRI irscher bumpers but finding those not on a SRI has been difficult to say the least, but I'm probably just not looking in the right place I'm thinking....!

oil spray jets are found on the vxr engines, z20leh/r and not on the z20let which shares the same casting as late x20xev's. spray jets can be fitted and cost around £20 for the 4. but you need a mill and machine tools to fit them. fitted them to my x20xev think theres some photos on here in projects and builds?
irmscher bumpers where an optional extra on the corsa c so finding one with them isn't going to be easy for you.
