Going London next weekend and want to go to the IMAX, is the 3d the best for viewing experience? Or 2d? Sure it was an IMAX I went to in the USA and it was 2d and was great but this was some years ago

I've seen -

The Dark Knight - 2d - Brilliant
Avatar - 3d - Quite subtle
The Hobbit - 3d - Made me feel ill every time it panned across screen.

I'd say 2d is best.

Its been a while since I watched a film in 2D

Star Trek - 3D on small screen - Blurry, didnt like it

World War Z - Empire Leicester Square - 3D Massive cinema, makes the screen look small. Had a mare with the 3D glasses which smeared, and couldnt get them cleaned up

Pacific Rim - 3D IMAX at BFI. OMFG. Amazing and defo worth watching in 3D.

Mixed reviews for me. All depends on the movie, cinema, screen and the glasses provided

If you want the 3D experience, I'd recommend BFI IMAX. Otherwise, may be worth playing it safe with 2D

Was The Hobbit shown in 48fps?

Matt - Maybe i haven't seen enough 3D films but i find it a bit of a gimmick and you're better off watching it in 2D. Saying that, i have seen a few IMAX documentaries (Titanica etc) that were extremely impressive.

I think so yeah. I think it got some criticism but PJ did it anyway.
