So currently have a corsa c Sri 1.4 twinport, it's typically tapy and noisy as its an early model (2003) recently when first started its really loud for a few seconds and quitens down a tad. I assume its oil pressure as when the little oil can light goes out it goes quiter (still loud though)

Soooo last few days that light doesn't go out and engine is dead rattly and loud, I have to turn the engine off and back on for it to go out and quiten down, big problem I assume but how big??

Have you got enough oil?

Could the filter be blocked?

It might be the oil pump am sure there is a way to check the pressure its putting out.

Yeah oil is full, going to service it and see if it fixes it, didn't think of the oil filter being blocked could be a possibility. Selling soon but hopefully this is a quick fix.

I had this problem. But my car was sat for years and not looked after before i got it.

If you can do it your self i would do a full service take sump off and clean oil pick up pipe and sump (mine was full of crap)
Now the problem you might have is it could of damaged things i.e bottom end.
I would go buy cheap oil, good oil, oil filter x2 and engine flush.
Take sump off clean refit
Cheap oil in with new filter an flush
Then good oil an new filter an hope for the best

Luckly mine has run fine since i done that no damage at all.

Do not start again till done as you only going to do more damage

Also the tapping noise is the lack of oil getting to head. Witch makes me think pick up pipe is blocked.
The fact that the light was going on and off and it got worse i am 90% its not oil pump BUT not 100%
