Off on a trip soon and finding it hard to get suggestions for funny films to watch, thought I'd ask on here! Things along the lines of The Hangover, Pineapple Express, The Simpsons Movie, Superbad etc.

Possibly TV shows too but pretty sure I've seen everything I like tbh!

If you want comedy check these live DVDs, funnier than any film I've ever seen.

Greg Davies - firing cheeseballs at a dog
Micky Flanagan - out out tour
Peter Kay - tour that didn't tour

40 Year Old Virgin
I Love You, Man
Don't Mess With the Zohan
Knocked Up
Good Luck Chuck
The Watch
Forgetting Sarah Marshall / Get Him to the Greek
Ghost Town
Invention of Lying
Yes Man
Shaun of the Dead
Hot Fuzz
Ted
Anchorman
Dodgeball
Grown Ups

... all examples of mainstream comedy, not necessarily brilliant films but all raise a chuckle at one point or another.

Some good suggestions there! 40 Year Old Virgin & Shaun of the Dead are two of my favourite funny films ever but not seen many of the others.

Didn't realise Mark Kermode was in the house. Care to provide any more examples?

Just going off my film list:

50 First Dates - If you like Adam Sandler. If you hate him, you'll likely hate this.

Adventureland - Quirky indie comedy. No knee slapping moments, but a good watch none the less.

Bandits - Not exactly universally loved, but I always find it a joy. Great subtle humor.

The Boat That Rocked - Great British comedy.

Burn After Reading - Brilliant dark humor!

Death at a Funeral - The 2007 British version, not the horrible American remake.

Dogma - Classic Kevin Smith comedy.

Due Date - The film Todd Phillips (rightfully) chose to make over Hangover II.

Eagle VS Shark - New Zealand indie flick. Very subtle, but a fantastic film.

Horrible Bosses - Mostly tried and tested territory, but well executed.

In Bruges - Watch it! Enough said.

Juno - Quirky teen comedy. Good fun and very female friendly.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - A bit of an unusual buddy cop comedy by the king of buddy cop films, Shane Black.

The Men Who Stare at Goats - Again one that isn't exactly universally loved, but I still can't recommend it enough.

The Other Guys - Action comedy by the people behind Anchorman.

Pineapple Express - James Franco absolutely shines in this stoner comedy.

Role Models - One of Paul Rudd's best roles to date.

Stranger Than Fiction - Something as rare as a low key Will Ferrell comedy.

Tropic Thunder - If you haven't watched this I don't want to know why. Just watch it!

The Whole Nine Yards - Probably the only funny thing Matt Perry has been involved in since Friends. Don't watch the sequel, though!

Waiting - Seriously underrated, quirky comedy. Some great dialogue.

Zombieland - Because zombies! Also, it looks fantastic.

Loving the Cohen Brothers inclusions, Mr.
Balling, sir!

I didn't mention any of theirs because you either "get" the Cohen Brothers or you don't... And most people don't.

Also +1 for In Bruges. It's a fairy-tale fucking town, isn't it? How can a fairy-tale town not be somebody's fucking thing?

Love the Cohen's! Amazing storytellers.
Agree that a lot of their films are excessively weird, which I guess you either love or hate.

Also, if I grew up on a farm and was retarded, Bruges might impress me but I didn't so it doesn't.
