How much would you expect to pay for a car to have a new Catalytic Converter to get it through an MOT?
Our Peugeot 207 (59 Plate) needs a new one, the emissions are in a right mess.

Quoted £805 incl. VAT, Labour etc. Front bumper & radiator off to do it apparently.
Been to a 'special' garage with a previous car, got through for a crate of beer and two weeks later the brakes didn't do their job
Bloody cars, can't win.

We had a mini in with the same engine. Right piss about to get it off, it turned out there was no cat in there :/ wasnt in the exhaust either. Also they have problems with the vanos units which send the emissions out, might come up with a problem with vanos on a computer?

What is the exact wording of the failure on the MOT?

If it failed on the CO reading then post the readings.

That could be due to low oil or, more likely, coolant during any of the 3 years they ran it. A cat is either doing its job or is not, can't really do anything to fuck it up.
