Had a leaflet through the door from stratstones and just briefly seeing suprisingly how low the monthly payments can be. £249pm 1series hatchback, £299pm 3 series saloon.
I know a few people on here have beemers, do you/have you had any of these deals and are they worth looking into or not?
Thanks

What sort of deals are you talking? There could be an £8k deposit involved or it could be a PCP deal etc.

£500 down, 249 per month, hand it back 2-4 years, it sounds to me like a lease agreement.

Lease or PCP then.
With PCP you'd get an option to buy it at the end for a pre-agreed amount, or hand it back and pretend nothing ever happened.
249 per month + 500 for three years is just under £10k, so I guess the question is how does that £10k compare to the depreciation of buying one new over the same time period.
PCP/Leasing is pretty convenient and makes financial sense if you've got no savings/deposit - but they can be expensive to get out of if you get bored half way through.

When I got a Honda PCP deal the deposit was 2x monthly payments. You could put more down, but it just altered the "agreed amount" at the end of the deal, so didn't really matter.

The website shows your deposit being a fair chunk (£2k or.more) a work collegue got a 116i sport £500 down then 250pm he hands it back within 4 years.

Shame it'll be for the shittest slowest model in the range.
Good if you want to impress your neighbours I guess.

I didn't mean it impossible, I meant it was a lot lower than I had seen advertised.
Some similar deals on contracthireandleasing but spec is usually bare bones

I hate these headline deals, normally make me go to the website to be disappointed when it's £400 for anything decent.

So do all the pcp deals just offer poverty spec models or is it just manufacturers like.bmw, audi etc?

Usually all manufacturers.
The fiesta employee deal I get is just the zetec 1.25 model. Anything else is much more.
People see the cheap price and think ooh, shiny.

1300 deposit isn't that bad but then you pay £240 a month for X years for a poverty spec one with a small slow engine.

Yep the 1 series is on PCP at 2.9% APR and £260 a month got 6.5k off list price also. Depends how much they need to sell cars

They vary depending on month and also dealerships

Waste of money really, just like sky tv.
EVERY month you have to spend £200-£300 on your car.

How much have you spent per month on your car? Including new engines and buying whole other cars?

So you've spent £100 a month to drive about in that (or an old escort) for 7 years, never sure if it will start that day or not.
I can definitely see how that's better.
