My car has been on auto trader just over a week now and have received one phone call who was a complete tyre kicker!

Any ideas or advice on the ad or why I might not be selling? The car is nearly mint bar the bonnet which isn't that bad but just trying be honest.

There's only 2 reasons why it won't sell, either it's not been on the Market long enough or it's too expensive!

Parkers says it's worth less than 7 grand so I'd say that's probably the reason.

A week is nothing though. Had mine on ebay, pistonheads, then 3 weeks on autotrader before it sold.

Sorry, I'm not trying to sell it through posting in GC.

How much is the cheapest 08 type r within 100 miles of you!?

Low miles makes it more attractive but not necessarily worth more. Not lots more anyway, few hundred tops!

Then I suggest it hasn't been for sale long enough for someone who specifically wants a ctr to see it.

Price. Lower it. It's the only thing people care about.

What tyres did you put on it? Is it HPI clear? Delete the sentence about the stone chips. Picture of the history receipts and spare keys is a nice touch on Hondas - do they still come with a master key?

This...

We take a photo of the service history/bills and the spare key with every car we sell.

Also not many people have 8k in cash/cheque to come buying from a private buyer as well.

Get it on pistonheads if its not already.

I sold my older type r on pistonheads a few weeks back for very strong money. Autotrader isn't the first place most people will think to look for a type r nowadays

nice one. The key is being patient. It's a bit of a niche car at a time when the majority of people are buying smaller engined eco cars.

What are you going for next?

Would you rather a dirty/dusty engine bay or a clean one?

my focus engine bay was very clean and the buyer said that was a big plus as a previous one they looked at had a very dirty engine bay.

But i've also heard people saying they'd rather buy a dirty one as a clean one could be an indication of the buyer trying to cover up problems such as oil leaks.

If the overall car is clean and it looks like they might clean the engine bay, that's fine.

If the door shuts are filthy but the engine bay is gleaming, probably a big leak that they're trying to hide.
