How do you guys rate Gumtree, fairly successful when selling items? Looking to sell an expensive jacket and not sure I fancy the eBay charges etc
So a good place to sell it on there? Or not?

I've sold a couple of things but definitely full of weirdos. I can imagine that an expensive jacket will attract a certain type of person.

Only sold a few bits of furniture on there. All went pretty quickly. Easy to use too.

Selling my iPad on there as eBay fees are huge! Had a bit of interest but no sale as of yet.

I've always ignored gumtree when selling due to the amount of scams and idiots that seem to be on there.
I may be wrong of course, but thats the impression I get from the people of the internet.

Yeah I get that impression also, for some reason.

Sell most of the stuff im selling via Gumtree.
Its the same as every where else when selling something. Yes you will get time wasters but that can't be avoided.
Do it properly and the only time you will have wasted if it comes to it is the time it takes to reply to a txt or take a phone call.

My brother just sold his 125cc bike on there to the first person who came to view it for the price advertised.
I'm astonished.

Seems to be full of people who want something for half the price of what I have advertised. For buying though it seems decent, plenty of stuff cheaper than elsewhere probably cause people haven't got to pay fees.
Problem with eBay is as annoying as it is paying fees, stuff nearly always sells.

I sell on the regularly. Get a lot of enquires and sales from there for all sorts, never paid to have the ad "promoted" tho as I don't think it's necessary. But there is a good few time wasters in there too

Just had a hassle free sale for an iPhone 4s via Gumtree. Turned up, had a look at it, handed over £200 and off he went.
Also had it up on a car forum for £220 ono, and received interest with an offer of £125 which he thought was reasonable. That to me is time wasting.

Probably should of done that with mine in hindsight, just sent it off to one of those mobile phone companies that take in phones.
As for Gumtree and the jacket, just feel a bit tad unsure on putting it there? People coming to view it etc

Someone on Facebook was asking for offers on a bnib 5c without stating a price...first offer was £100
I've sold a sofa bed and a few other things on Gumtree without any hassle at all, guess it depends on the item. Also bought a ton of kids clothes for the littlun

I still feel very dubious about it.... Although, on eBay, the fella came round, saw my PS3, gave me cash and off he went. Cancelled the item and obviously got no chargers/hassle.

Dad sold his golf on gumtree. Loads of timewasters on eBay. Bloke on gumtree paid deposit, came from Wales, settled the balance and drove the car away
