Been offered a swap for the xsara for a e36 so gonna go have a nosey.

Since this is bmwsport now I'm sure y'all know what to look out for? Back arches etc are all good and I'm told to make sure theres no bangin from back axle, what else should I be keen to check?

Which e36 are you getting? 4pot? Or 6?
A few things I found when I had an e36:

- Be sure the clutch is good. They have dual mass flywheels. So when the clutch starts to go it also wears down the flywheel, which will really start damaging your pocket.

- If it has CCFL angle eyes make sure that they have been properly installed. A lot of people solder the connections together so that might be a thought. This is a result of the cheap connectors catching fire, potentially lethal near the engine. I didn't believe it at first, but a friend’s e36 caught fire. Luckily it was put out promptly, so only a little bit of damage was done. Stick with LED ones.

- Check the area under the spare tyre (the rear end of the car). I have heard a lot of stories about e36s' being scrapped because of rear end rot.

I will try remember so more for you. But overall really nice cars and if looked after well they live forever. Mine was near to 200k miles, yet still drove better than a lot of other cars I have driven.

If it's on its arse, make sure the front shock towers aren't cracked.

Thread is a bit of a waste of time. No matter what sort of state it's in (which it will be), you'll swap it anyway.

E36s are pretty good cars. Just getting on abit now so the usual engine checks and rot. Bushes in rear and check the top of the rear struts. The top mounts can go and the struts can push up through them

How different NI is from area to area . With the mods listed sounds like a drifters car or joyriders dream, I would guess the BMW will be proper fucked and ragged to death. What model, engine, mileage, tax and MOT? Not a years MOT don't bother it will cost loads to fix and get legal enough to pass.

It's a Maghrafelt boy who wants to swap, I'm sure you know what they're like for a dturbo trailing the ground , they're all ragged stupid tbf, would be hard pushed to find a decent one over here that hasnt been diffed stupid. Bit of diffing is all I want it for anyway

Its only a 318 IS, MOT till july and plenty of taxs, worth a look surely

DRZ is 2011 plate from Ballymena so not original plate. The car looks ok in pic, the IS does have the M Kit. Mot is longish being July 2014, worth a look but deep inspection is needed, I have no idea about E36 318's tbh.

But car looks Felt Spec

That beemer actually looks alright. Must be something terrible wrong with it or the owner is a nutcase.
