Right.

I'm 30, I think I look a reasonable 30, I'm not overweight and I have a handsome beard. But I do have a child and a 'good' job status.

Last week I went to see Knife Party at the Warehouse Project, I often attend such events, Creamfields earlier this year and Prodigy in December at the same venue.

Getting into the office yesterday, a girl I work with (early twenties) asked me with some seriousness if I was having a mid life crisis. A little later I was asked by another person if I was clinging onto my youth.

I joked this off but inside was having a quandary. Am I too old?

Points to note,
whilst not in the majority age group at such events, I don't feel out of place yet.
The people I go to watch are about the same age (ie knife part are 30/31, keith flint is 44), which to me is a good benchmark.

Am I too old for such things?

30! Bloody hell you should be settling down in front of Discovery Channel of an evening, sipping Horlicks and wearing your finest slippers!

Not out gallivanting at your local discotheque!

I'm 33 and have stopped going in certain bars. But I still stay out until the ungodly hours and attend the odd gig etc.

If anything, its the younger kids trying to be as cool as the older kids

Don't be ridiculous Pete. It's not like it's the first time you've done it, or you stopped for twenty years and then carried on. I'm assuming this has always been your bag and you've just continued to enjoy yourself and socialise the way you like to yes?

Fuck the opinion of a pair of office nobbers. Should have chinned the pair of them. Cheeky, rude, pig ignorant cunts.

30 is nothing. You'll realise that when you're 34. And so will they. Cunts.

There's not really anything you can do to stop people with miserable lives from judging you for enjoying yourself.

I see this a lot at my work place and I hate it.
The more dull someones life is, the quicker they are to point out what everyone else is doing wrong in their eyes.

I can't believe the bitch referred to it as a mid life crisis! He's THIRTY FFS! Is she planning on snuffing it at 60? Really, some people.

This falls into two camps of reasoning...

1. The youngster (18-21 year old) will see 30 as being 'VERY OLD' ... this is mainly due to the fact they've barely lived and the gap between when they were 'a kid' is only a couple of years... So another 12-9 years (to 30) is a massive jump. (If they think back to 9-12 years ago, they were only 6-9 years old lol).

2. The second camp is the old fart in the office, who is in his mid 40s, under the thumb with a wife, never has any enjoyment in life and is utterly jealous.

Ignore both of them, they're both idiots.

Ask them if they work for the mid-life crisis police.

When I was 18, I worked for a bloke who was 33. He was on powder and on the piss all the time. He was all over the place all the time he could be. Pubs, clubs, bars, holidays, you name it.

I never thought of him as old, just an adult. And that's what adults did. He WAS a complete cunt, but I never thought of him as old at all and I was 15+ years younger than him.

When I was 18, I looked up to people in their 30s, 40s, 50s etc and as far as I was concerned, people in their 80s and 90s that were stuck in a chair with a blanket on their lap, in a retirement home, were the appropriate definition of 'old'.

I am still of the same opinion.

I went to see Deap Vally last week with my mate who is in his mid-thirties, and most of the people there were blokes in at least their forties. Don't worry about it, mate

Its not a crisis is it, you're not suddenly doing things that you haven't before. Just carrying on doing the same things but a bit older. If anything you might get more selective about the types of things you do, I don't tend to stick about in shit bars these days whereas I probably would have gone to them just because they were cool years ago. But yeah, tell the young person you know how it feels to be 20 but they don't really understand that being older is actually no different.
