Those of you who do business mileage how many do you do and do you get anything such as a company car or allowance for it, or even company credit card ?

I seem to be doing a hell of a lot of miles and putting sometimes thousands of pounds worth of expenses a month!! Last few weeks off the top of my head:
- Milton Keynes Monday (300 miles)
- Leeds Wednesday (500+ miles)
- Milton Keynes Thursday (300 miles)
- London Friday (train so £200 rail ticket + parking, tube etc)

- Milton Keynes Monday (300 miles)
- Milton Keynes Tuesday (300 miles)
- Milton Keynes Friday (300 miles)

This week
- London Monday (train so £200 rail ticket + parking, tube etc)
- Bristol Tuesday (Only 50 miles)
- Milton Keynes Thursday (300 miles)
- Suppose to be Manchester today but was cancelled yesterday (circa 450 miles)

My poor wifes car has had the mileage wacked onto it as most the time I take that as dont like using mine for work miles (I know a bit silly but if I used mine I think it would be on near 20K and its not a year old yet).

Im thinking of asking for an allowance or something as i always seem to be about a grand behind on my expenses as by the time they have processed it and paid it I have run the same up again already!

The way i see it is you should never be out of pocket.

we are supplied with a company credit card , car allowance and 25p per mile. on top of that you can claim 20p per mile back at the end of the year on your self assessment.

I get 45p per mile so I do get compensated for the fuel so cant complain there; the leon cost next to nothing so I dont worry about depreciation on that; but would if I put all the miles on the BMW

I haven't done as many miles this year but I get £0.45 pm paid back as soon as I put my expenses in. I've not been out of the office for a couple of months, hence having low mileage this year but I normally make 3/4 trips to and from Glasgow or Southampton per month each at 400miles a time so 1200-1600miles per month for 8 months of the year.

iirc, it drops to £0.25 after 10,000 miles and I'm normally right on the cusp of tipping over.

I get a Car on an Employee Contributed Lease Scheme.

I don't get the BIK Taxation, and only pay for excess mileage over the annual estimated level, at 7.0ppm (this sum is paid by the employer if it is exceeded due to increased business mileage, by myself if due to personal mileage)

I have Fuel Card for both Business & Private Mileage.

I choose my own annual mileage allowances - currently 6k Business / 13k Private, so 19k Total.

I get Insurance for both Business & Private usage included, for myself & my partner.

Maintenance & Repairs, Tyres, RFL & MOT (when applicable) are all covered and incorporated into the monthly costs.

I pay a monthly cost of £605 for this - with £137 directly for that, the rest is a monthly allowance from my Employer (based on salary, tax band & est. annual mileage)

This is my 6th year with the scheme, and it seems to work fine. Not had any problems atall so far, and not being driving round in complete shitters either, I get to, within reason & guidelines, choose what I want.
Octavia vRS TDi, Mazda 6 Sport 2.2d 185, Mazda 6 Sport Tourer 2.0 165 so far.

I've previously had the cars through this scheme at estimated annual usages of 40,000 & 45,000 miles per year, I've not had to pay more than £165p/m out of my own pocket either.

25p/mile as I'm under 2000cc. Car costs me about 15p, so I'm on an earner.

Still annoying as fuck turning up at a clients in an 04 Fiesta.

And car not the most comfortable. Luckily furthest I've had to drive is about 2 hours one way.

I am on company car scheme and get 15ppm for any business miles I do

When changing my car next it will be assessed based on manufacturers figures minus 15% as per HMRC guidelines meaning the car I have now would be around 11.5ppm

When I didn't have a compancy car I got 43ppm but then that had to cover costs of running thcar i.e maintenance tyres insurance for business use etc

When I was entitled to a company car but opted out I got 20ppm and again had to cover

Our company have removed opt out

45p per mile. I would make money from it apart from my car drinks fuel.

Sounds like they need to give you a company car and a credit card though

I get a new company car every four years company fuel card even used for personal use have to pay tax though for the private use to the government or whoever gets our tax monies, I wouldn't like to put thousands of miles on my own car and all the wear and tear I'd ask for company or a lease vechiles if possible

I get 30ppm which just about covers my fuel costs. Doesn't cover tax, insurance, wear and tear, depreciation

I'm doing around 800 miles a month business miles currently.

So why don't you just claim the difference at the end of the tax year?

My employer doesn't like us using our own cars as it's expensive for them. First port of call is to use a pool car; if they're all booked we have to get a hire car.

I had a choice. Extra £7k a year salary and 30ppm OR a 3 Series with Fuel Card.

Took the car to save myself the hassle of expenses every month which I never have time to claim and end up hundreds out of pocket!

I stick a receipt in for 20 or 30 quid a week but I only go back and forward between 2 places a mile apart or on the odd occasion a meeting in the Town Centre about a mile away as well
