Hull City chairman Assem Allam has angrily dismissed the efforts of fans to dissuade him from renaming the club.

Supporters' organisation City Til We Die has voiced hope that the Football Association can stop the club name changing to Hull Tigers.

"I honestly don't know why the fuss, why a small group are making all this fuss," Allam told BBC Radio 5 live.

"Nobody in the world will decide for me how I run my companies, certainly not a few hundred people."

^ Extract from BBC Sport 13/11/13.

This is going to get very very messy!

A football club isn't a company, it's a community asset. This will end badly for Hull, just like it will for Cardiff.

It'll be a sad sad day when we lose Parish/Browett/Long/Hosking, unless it's to another set of supporters. I just don't understand it as we've always had rich fans owning our club (usually not so rich at the end).

The guy is clearly a massive tosser but it seems to be the way they're going these days. G'luck Hull!

I don't see the problem, it's just a name for the business. No reason why they can't still sing city til I die

Besides, singing "mauled by the tigers" is much better

genuinely, if Steve Morgan said, to keep us in the premiership we need to be called Wolverhampton Wolves for the time being, i wouldnt be bothered.
If anything it makes the "Wanderers/City til i die" songs more prominent

Fuck selling years of history down the river for short term success. Slippery slope, it won't stop at the name.

I'd rather be York City in the conference than York Vikings in the "EPL", at least we could hold our head high and say we didn't sell out.

No where near the same thing. It's not a world I want to be part of nor should it need to be. Hull wouldn't cease to exist without a name change, this is just the shite that comes with owners that know fuck all about football.

No club needs to franchise off its history to be successful.

I'd never want my club to whore itself out for a quick buck, which will no doubt disappear as quickly as it appeared when said owner has bled the club dry of all it's money and assets, leaving some poor cunt and the fans who were there before the sell out to pick up the pieces

Hull history

I agree, it shouldnt have to be.
It's different to the Cardif red shirt thing, thats changing things for the sake of it and stupid traditions.
If it means Hull attract more investment etc, it cant be a bad thing for them
