Coming away from our house last night, narrow road and another car came the opposite way, moved over slightly and BANG.
Straight over like a dry stone wall, it's laid inline with the curb, but the bit we hit sticks out a fair bit. I'm guessing it's nothing to do with council, what's my chances of getting a claim for repairs? I think the person who's house it's outside will have put it there?
I understand it's her fault for hitting it, but it shouldn't be sticking out on the road.
We were coming opposite way to this, so passenger wheel hit the bit that's sticking out.
Pretty poorly lit, and the stones are really overgrown with the grass now. (Obviously that pics off google maps)
I came off my seat and hit my head on roof
Snapped the steering arm, buckled alloy and ripped tyre.
So ordered today
2 bottom arms
2 track rods
2 track rod ends
2 drop links
And an alloy and tyre
gutted!

If it's an adopted road it's highways...if not then likely to be owned by a management company who own the houses...
If it's the owner who put it there then go after them through their house insurance potentially

Looks like she needs to slow down, and I bet it isn't the first time she has driven down that road.

Tbf thats pretty bad.
Also if those lights are anything like the ones down our road (orange) then they're pretty much useless anyway.
Homeowner is at fault, but unsure whether it's the council/highways job to check the road to make sure it's safe and free from obstacles.

I don't mean to sound harsh but I'd be abit annoyed if my taxes are being used to pay out people who crash into a curb/wall that sticks out less than half a foot

If you can claim off the home owner or whatever then go for it!

Because you don't end up paying for that through your home insurance anyway?

So what if she had hit the wall further down?
Claim off the owners there?
All I would be doing is bitch slapping your Mrs for not paying attention whilst driving.

She should learn not to drive into solid objects. I'd imagine the kerb is there because the owners of the verge were getting pissed at people driving along their property and making a mess of it.

Good point didn't think of that, but then again I wouldn't even think about who can I claim off if I drove into a wall.

How exactly, those curb stones have clearly been there a while.

Shut up Ben. Your talking shite.
If that was a 3foot wall there would be no discussion on the matter.
Jesus do people need a perfectly straight curb to drive or it all goes to pot?
