With 300+ bhp. Understandable tbh. Same engine in the next focus rs iirc.
You could always have the 3.7 v6 or 5.0 v8 if you enjoy spending time at petrol garages.

Don't care how much horsepower it makes Ben. You can't and shouldn't put a four pot in a Mustang. A V6 is bad enough.
By all means Ford UK/Europe should build a little RWD car that looks as much like a bubble arched MK I Escort as this car looks like an original Mustang and then stick a 2.3 litre, 4 cylinder engine in it, but it's just wrong in a 'stang.
Might as well just get the focarse.

I disagree.
The name is iconic and now has a modern engine which will sell far better.
Blame the government and greenpeace hippies.

mustang with a 2.3 is just so wrong.
Do they do the 2.3 version in America? would imagine it would just get laughed at tbh.

You have the choice of a V8 if you want one though don't you? Good idea really.

tbh it is a great idea because there will be plenty people that want a mustang but not want the expensive of running a v8.
But no true enthusiast will be driving round in a 4cylinder muscle car. lol

Agreed.
Isn't it even the most powerful base model Mustang ever?
Having had a '96 Mustang as a rental for a few days, I'll say there's certainly no reason to mourn the death of the low powered V engines.
3.8 l V6 with 150 bhp is just a horrible, horrible thing to drive.

They are doing a 5l V8 as well.
They cant not sell a smaller more efficient one, else no one would buy it and it would flop then be withdrawn from the UK. Its fine in the US where the Mustang is cheap and petrol (gas) is also cheap

It looks awesome. The 2.3 engine will be tunable as fuck I'd imagine.

I can see them selling about five units a year though.
Anyone who wants an 'Egoboost' car, is going to buy a Fester or a focarse.
Anyone who wishes to own a Ford Mustang, almost certainly wouldn't even consider the V6.
It's a bit like sticking a 2 stroke, single cylinder scooter engine in a Corsa.

Technology changes, times move on. Don't need a 20l engine to get 200bhp any more.
The Mustang has always been a pretty basic car that was able to be upgraded by cult owners. That seems not to have changes, there will be a raft of tuning companies rubbing their hands to creat a bespoke edition. Like shelby saleen rousch etc

I agree with the notion of a 4 pot Mustang being disgusting.

I understand what you're saying, but surely you can see that they won't sell many at all if they only offer them with 5.0 v8's?
Times change, people and machines evolve.
If petrol was still 70p a litre, then there wouldn't be a need for the 4 pot.
Amg are doing exactly the same with their models, as are bmw.

Are they? The last m3 was a v8 not a straight 6
