Hi Guys,

Got a weekend in London coming up, want to do the usual xmas visits, but unsure where to dine on the saturday night, would like to go to a nice up market restaurant then off to a bar for a few drinks with the wife but have no idea which part to be looking at?

Staying around Victoria Station area.

This place is well worth a visit mate, I went last year and because its underground, its like a cellar restaurant.

Edit: It's in Covent Garden, so easily accessible from Victoria.

You can't book it as they have no reservation system, it's first in, first served and the queue can take an hour or so to clear before you get a seat but I massively recommend Barrafina, it's one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.

Opposite Barrafina is Cerviche which is a Peruvian restaurant which specialised in Cerviche (*sp) which was also very, very good.

Gary Rhodes 24 at tower 42 was excellent and the views across London were astounding at night!

Visited Pied à Terre when we were over and it's a quite nice place. Very French and very classic. Not the place to visit if you want the most modern experience, though.

Interior is very intimate, service is superb and the food was incredible.

I can recommend any of these restaurants. The one on the South Bank is particularly good. That will be pretty magical this time of year too.

I'm heading to London a week on Thursday for a few days with the missus and that gaucho place sounds good and you don't need a bank loan to eat there lol.

Anywhere else that's similar without costing a fortune??

i ate in the Piccadilly one and would recommend it, its loud and busy though so if you want a romantic quiet meal i wouldn't bother.
