Corsasporters:

I recently sold an item on eBay, listing
Postage as other courier at £7 for UK and no international post.

Gone to post the item and book a courier via interparcel as per normal. Noticed the Isle of Mann address so followed the sites instructions and this classes it as "Islands/highlands" subsequently the postage has doubles to £12+VAT. Now I am in a pickle. From what I have read it's not a part of the United Kingdom merely a dependency. But this is classed as UK still?

I tried the RM site and it won't even quote me to send a parcel there, they class it as overseas

What shall I do? Cancel auction and relist? Ask buyer for
Extra cash to post as technically it is not UK!?

Confused as to my obligations and the rules. Anyone dealt with similar?

Have you tried Collect+? Think theirs is flat rate for UK and IOM. Could be wrong.

How much profit is in the item? For the hassle I'd just take the ~£5 hit.

There's not much profit no so £5 is relatively large hit.

I would personally take the hit as it's technically your fault.

Whenever I buy stuff from ebay, the seller always puts a note in the description telling them buyer postage will cost more for highlands/isle of (insert name here).

Do they? I've never seen it before.

It's not classed as UK by Royal Mail or any other
Courier, so not sure how that's my fault. I state I do not post internationally which
According RM the IOM is

I always state postage quote is mainland UK.

They'll most likely be used to paying more, so you may be OK.

Depends what postage service you offered, you might find you can cancel it based on the fact that the Manx guy isn't eligible to use the service that you offered.

See what they say first.

He was cool with it. I charged him the difference -VAT so took a small bit but rather it was sorted.
