I did a foundation degree part-time (two nights per week between 18:00 and 21:00 during the regular uni academic year)
This was the first formal learning I'd done sine leaving school ten years earlier...and was difficult to begin with, but I got my mind into learning mode after a short while.

With all the plans you have from last year, doing the mega miles for work etc, and now this.
You are going to be an extremely busy man this year.

Why would you even think of going to college instead of just buying the rusty old camper and learning? Unless you'll do absolutely none of it?

Plans for the old campervan have been put on hold for 18 months or so. Got married in August and in the process of buying a bigger place.
I will be getting a camper when i can! Always loved them...
As for the mileage i do, this is for work. This could always change.

I did a City and Guilds level II plastering course last year which was brilliant and has already paid itself back tenfold.

I retrained in motor body repair and refinishing many many moons ago. So I suppose I can comment with a little more background knowledge than most.
Firstly do you have a college near by that runs a bodywork course as most places don't bother as it's high cost and low return for them.
Secondly if I'm being totally honest if you're planning on learning for personal skills rather than as a genuine career choice you'd be as well watching YouTube for howto's then practicing at home on old panels or the like.
A lot of stuff like welding you can learn this way very quickly just by fucking about at home with scrap metal and tinterweb. Same with filler work etc.

you learn more by doing it yourself plenty of help on here and lots of guides online just give it a go , if you mess it up you know what not to do next time. I learnt how to paint years ago just start with scrap stuff and prep prep prep prep Is the key!

If you've got a local college, look at their website for adult learning and short term courses. I really want to do the welding course at my local college but it's 2 nights a week for 16 weeks and I work away from home a lot which makes it difficult.
I probably could have learned plastering online but the reality with a busy life is that I never would have done it; signing up to the course made me commit to it and being taught by highly experienced tutors with active feedback was much better than watching a YouTube video imo!!

I got an e-mail back today from St Helen's college to say they don't do this as an adult night course at the moment.
I know Liverpool Community College do some motor vehicle courses but as i work in Manchester and will be living in St Helen's, i'm not really wanting to travel to Liverpool and back home again for a course.

It's all to do with numbers. Why put a course on that is going to cost more in tutor wages than they will get back in from the public.
This is a Micky Mouse course, no-one in reality is going to get a full time job out of it.
