Bought a Swiss army knife. One of the few without a corkscrew as I hate the corkscrew.

are they legal to carry in car? Purposely didn't buy one that locked.

Unless you are the type of person who is up to no good I would say it's fine. I have a pen in mine which has interchangeable screw driver parts and a knife

Don't know the answer to your question, but I've had my Swiss Army Knife for 14 years and it's still perfect - bloody brilliant things!

What's your beef with the corkscrew? Mine has a tiny flathead screwdriver called Pat living in it:

If it doesn't lock and the blade is less than 3 inches in length then its legal

Very odd law. I'm sure you can severely harm or kill someone with a blade which doesn't lock and is less than 3 inches long.

Might keep it in the first aid box. As that's not quick to access so not really a weapon.

Corkscrew seems to get bent or snags on stuff from what I remember. Can't see me needing a corkscrew while fishing or in car. Won't carry it about like some sort of inspector gadget type bloke. I

My point exactly, so why not just have a blanket ban on them? Why would you need a Swiss army knife on the High Street?

Its due to the fact that the older generation were brought up to carry a small pen knife for cutting rope etc. If you stop an OAP in the street a high percent will be carrying a knife. Is a "loophole" so they all don't get locked up

Cut open the sauce
Cut open sugar
Cut open the milk
And then stir his coffee/tea

There must of been so many germs on that blade

I'm all ready for getting stranded and having to survive in the wild. Although these days it never happens.

Would of been handy the other month when a coolant hose burst and I had to do emergency repairs.

My Leatherman blade locks. But then as I'm not going to be wandering around the streets brandishing it I should be okay!

Prefer a Leatherman myself.

Have a couple of Victorinox knives and a credit card multi tool thing.

My mum also found my very first pen knife recently, got it on a tour round a whisky factory, cut my finger with it the first time I opened it, same as I've done with just about every single one I've had since.

I got a 9" hunting/survival knife on a whim a few years back...lives in my toolbox now as an excessive letter/ packet opener now.

Whenever I see one of these I think about the time my sister took mine and tried to cut open a cardboard box with it. Next thing we know she's coming down the stairs clutching her index finger - she had tried to slice the box open with the blunt side of the knife and it sliced her nail nearly clean in half lengthways
