Had a new car couple of weeks thought I'd share
1.9 CDTI SRI 150
It's great to drive and has a bit more power than the 1.6 Megane we had before.
Will get better pics when cleaned and not raining.
Already debadged, not sure on any other plans yet? Open to ideas.

Might look at getting it mapped in the future, but compared to the Megane it's already a world apart, already been looking for lights, found a company on Facebook headlightretrofits who fit proper projectors in etc. Have a look all road legal and mot pass. Makes the look of factory fit xenons. Need sidelights too

Ya,
Take to Warren G in Kent.
Have gearbox bearings upgraded in advance.
Have him remap it.
Never fear that the shite gearbox will break for no reason at all.
Leave it as it is from then on.

I can't find any decent insignias after a couple of weeks but there are plenty of these about. I'm still put off from my last one though (had both gearbox and swirl flap issues).

They're decent cars, the 150 is a good engine.
Gearbox has started making a noise in mine though so it's getting shifted before it costs me any money.

This has just had new gearbox, dmf and clutch and water pump and timing belt.
Might look into gearbox upgrades and mapping soon.

I have a massive soft spot for these love the exterior, had one with quite a few extras, sat nav, auto lights and wipers ect. Great car and go pretty well to. I just managed to buy a dog of an example when it came to the mechanics side so put me off, still find my self looking at them now and then though. If you got a good one there great, and here so many story's of them running for years and years trouble free so can't all be bad.

I thought the gearbox issues were an Internet myth.

If you follow warren on FB you'll know how many he does a week!
Plans, I'd colour code the chrome boot strip and the chrome V grille. Look loads better.

It is widely known the gearboxes aren't strong enough.
You should be aware of that before you buy one though, the information is everywhere.

Colour coding will be on the cards, not sure whether to do them black or body colour or something else?
I was fully aware of gearbox issues before I bought the car, I haven't done what some people do, buy the car, then open a thread of what should I look out for now I've bought it.

I think its an internet myth,
untill mine goes,
alot of the vxr's are doing drag runs, trackdays, mapped and general hooning,
average diesel commuter I cant see having the issue

I see a pattern developing, it's an Internet myth for those it hasn't happened to yet but for those it has it isn't.
It does happen, to loads of them. Everyone is aware of it and it's not a myth.

My mates Mk5 Astravan was on 23k when the gearbox shat itself. Luckily it was still under manufacturers warranty so was replaced F.O.C. The van was up for sale by the new owner not that long ago, and he also had to get the box repaired as it shat itself again.

It is funny how the VXR's don't seem to have the problem as much or you don't hear of it as much. A few round here running 300bhp and fine. On the other hand a few diesels have shat gear box's. Guess it's the torque and driving style of the diesel. I test drove a nearly new one with a whine and the 2nd was fine which I purchased 2 weeks later the inevitable happened. Thankfully got my pennies back.
Do here of them running MILES SMD MILES problem free, definitely isn't every diesel but is pretty common.

Too many boy racers using their dieseasels to play with the bigger Boyz imo.
Always see those 150's being ragged to death.

Plenty VXRs have had their boxes replaced, some under warranty too. Bigecks went and that hadn't covered many miles at all.
As Hammer stated, it is not a myth, it is a known issue. It's not the end of the world to fix, think Warren doesn't charge much to get it done.

It would be interesting to see if gear box oil changes had been carried out at the correct times on these failures
