Anything to look out for on a MK1 Seat Leon FR 1.9 TDI 150 FR aside from whether the cambelt as been changed? Not got any experience with Seats but presuming the 1.9 TDI is as reliable as it supposedly is in the VW/Audi's?

I'm guessing that it's not possible to tell on viewing on the car, just a part that can go wrong?

Apparently the door seals are meant to leak; but the two I have had been fine. Covered a total of about 35K in the two I have had and not had any problems
The one I have has suffered a bit from lacquer peel which is quite common also.

3 guys from work have had Mk1 Leons. ( 1 still has his, no leaks) Other 2 had the leaky doors/dash. Another guy from work had the same shape, but a Toledo, and his leaked too so he gave it back and got his money back.

Not a case of just fitting new door seals then? It's a 55 plate so one of the last made in that shape if that makes any difference

Door seals are a simple cheap fix. Takes about 2 hours to do all 4 doors and will cost you around a tenner all in. Its the inner seals behind the door cards that go.

I don't like the sound of the camshaft problems after having a search for posts about it. Very expensive to fix! Put me off now

camshaft problems only occur when the wrong oil is used instead of the recommended pd oil, ive had plenty of the 150s with no problems what so ever.

Is it not something to do with the cam followers or the tappets or something like that??
Sure i heard they were the weak point on the 150 and that's what caused the cam to wear out.

From the bit of research I've done it doesn't seem to matter whether the car has FSH with the correct oil used or not. It's apparently something to do with the material the camshaft is made from that causes excessive wear

Hard to tell if this is one of those internet myths that makes it sound a lot more common than it actually is in the real world

Probably the same as the M32 gearbox internet myth. Where in real life, its actually extremely common.

Is the camshaft thing 150 only? Had loads of 1.9's of varying bhp (not the 150) and never heard of it.

I think so yeah. Will stick to looking for an A4 130 like I originally wanted instead
