I just stripped by Corsa, leaving just the drivers seat and some of the dash. I still have alot of the A/C gear to remove etc and the steering wheel but otherwise ive gone pretty much as far as i can.

How much weight is in a GSi interior??

I took out all the sound deadening and roof lining etc too.

If you're not bothering with the heaters then you might as well cut the passengers side/centre console out of the dash.

Because of the track days i plan on doing, I have to keep some kind of de-misting device in the car. I may remove the dash and keep the windscreen ducts but will just keep it there in the meantime.

Remove more dash
Lighter steering wheel
Quaife gear knob
Lighter seat
Lots of unwanted metal to be cut out
Sunroof? (alloy/Perspex riveted skin)
Spare wheel well (alloy/Perspex riveted skin)

Gonna order a boss kit as i have a wheel to fit already.
Gear knobs pretty light anyway. Horrid, but light.
On the lookout for two seats.
No sunroof.
Does removing the well make much of a difference?

Loads of weight still in that. Get rid of the heater matrix too, you will hardly be needing that in ausy

Got to keep the hater/blower to keep it road legal.

Also you could remove the crash bar things behind the bumpers.

I need to do this to mine yet ready for some track days. iI also found some cheap fixed back seats, just unsure how safe they are at $300 a pair.

You can get those small electric heaters for that, was going to get one for the puma, then found out it wasn't a requirement in the UK at the time

Fuck that looks serious! Reckon removing the inner doors/quarters will weaken things much? Or are you installing a cage?

I plan on removing the dash, cutting out/removing anything i can and then refitting whats left of it.

it all depends what your using the car for really, if your doing tracks then its probs best to look into the rule books and no doubt you'd need a cage for that too... mines for fwd drag racing only and no cage for now....

as for drag racing you can get away with taking even more out but there comes a point where you'll need a cage, but its a bit different to what you'll know a cage as though

here a few random examples

When I stripped my gsi removing all electrics, glass door bars and inner panel etc I saved 15kg per door. The sound deadening was about 7kg.

also removing any un needed bracket in car soon added up weight wise, tbh dash doesn't weigh much if you remove the metal frame and I preferred to keep it for looks really, wheel well does t really save any weight tbh but cutting all the webbing out of bonnet and boot is worth while if your polycarbing the boot as well.

Ultimatly get some grp panels bonnet and boot save a lot of weight and even the front arches save 3kg
