Was watching Wheeler dealers yesterday where they did a Mk3 Range Rover.
Really got me keen to get engine covers dipped in fake Carbon fibre!
What are costs and does it withstand heat?

Google hydro dipping, I believe thats what the process is called.
Few guys on the z4 forum had the 3 dash pieces done and it cost about 300 quid.
One also had his engine cover done, so I imagine it must be good at withstanding heat.

What's the point?
It looks awful. They do a million and one different patterns I'm sure there would be a good one in there. Fake carbon is so pointless. It looks nothing like carbon fibre and looks cheap.
Real (even if it is coating a part) is cool. 3M sticky black plastic is poop as is "carbon" dipping.

I have had bits done by Wicked Coatings and can't fault it. Prices were pretty cheap and the service was excellent. It will withstand heat too

My friend also does it and is actually shit hot at it. Look up Pro Coatings UK on facebook to see his work. Based in Newington, Kent.

Not a fan of Carbon Dipping on metal but on plastic parts, should look good.

The whole point is to transform an existing part . I can see why people do it and I think it looks great . It may not look exactly like carbon or have the same properties but it does tidy what would be a bland part up. I would consider doing it if I wasn't a tight cunt

Looks crap IMO. Looks 'ok' until you put it up against real carbon. Few CSL guys have had a few bits carbon dipped and it looks horrid against the standard carbon stuff.

I wouldn't go for the carbon fibre look. It looks like chain links.
I's be interested in gloss black though
