Don't normally like to jump on these type of bandwagons, but found these 2 beauties under my kitchen units.

I managed to kill the little one shown below, but the big black one is still at large;

The main reason I think it might be one is jet black colour and very bulbous body.
I think it does resemble these fairly closely: http://www.uksafari.com/steatodagrossa.htm

Spiders don't usually bother me, but seeing those, I wouldn't even pick them up with my Marigolds on.

I also found this little twat in the kitchen at 2.45am this morning. Its back was white, never seen one before. Anyone any idea if this is one or just a random? it's dead now anyway.

It was quite small so it must have been a baby, its back was all white with a few black spots. Strange to see spiders in the house this time of year, thats what got me intreagued.

Another pic I took of it

Technically its neither as spiders/arachnids are venomous not poisonous as you stated but both male and female will be venomous as they would not be able to eat without the venomous ability. Your confusion arises because males are usually smaller and as such possess fangs to short to puncture human skin.
