We aren't allowed to use this type of extractor at work,
They are terrible.
Most of them are rock hard, and too brittle,
They then snap off in the bolt etc, and there's no way of drilling it out, so has to be spark eroded out, which is quite hard on a 20tonne base, but equally annoying if it happens on anything.

Never needed to use one on the other hand, many methods to get stuff out.

Used the longer ones regularly at work. Got to be really careful that they dont snap, especially smaller ones.
I find the square taper design ones better than the screw in ones, take a much better bite

I used a set of snap on ones recently and they were brilliant, put up with a lot of grief

If th head is still on the bolt use a set of irwin bolt removers they are excellent

Don't use cheap easy out's, like Gazza said they are right bastards when the snap.

The square snap on ones are the best I've used, I have set of Franklin ones that are also pretty good

Had a similar set to these and they were useless

Irwin ones are a great job, used my Granda's set for years & never had a problem. Well, aside from be being a retard & hammering one of the bolt extractors onto a rounded bolt, and then being unable to detach it

The only Irwin ones I can find are for exact opposite of what I need.

I need some extractors like in link I have posted.

Also it's only an M6 bolts I need to get out. So not much danger snapping? Really don;t want to drill out.

Nik, that allen key of mine that you're.... involved in. I snapped that in a suspension turret top - flush with the top of the opening and had so much torque on it, it was jammed in.

Alpha Engineering (on the industrial estate w/ Wishing Well pub) drilled it out for me after I ruined 3 or 4 "carbide" bits in my dremel. Cost me £20, real tidy job of it too.

Hmm well if all fails I will take the wheels to them to get a quote.

Most annoyingly every single one of the bolts on rear wheels have come out no bother.
