Went to a small Rally event yesterday in a Village where I used to live. It was organised by the Bournemouth & District Car Club, and is something they seem to do annually now. My Cousin & Uncle also came along, as my Uncle is a member of the BDCC and used to compete in Rallying himself for 15+ years, so knew a fair few of the local guys competing this year.

Bovington is a military Village, referred to as the Armour Centre - it is the Army's primary Tank Training establishment. There is a large driver training area, with a purpose built All Weather Driving Circuit that is a large circuit of heavily reinforced concrete, so this was used for the event. (The off-road circuit is too harsh for the cars as it is deeply churned by the Tracked vehicles on a weekly basis, and the MOD don't clear it for this sort of use either). The cars did 4x 2-lap stages of the circuit in an Anti-Clockwise direction, and then 4x 2-lap stages of it in a Clockwise direction. A good few hours all in.

Some nice cars were out with a lot of older stuff too. Some of the Escorts were running very modern gear with high power N/A Duratec Engines and Sequential Gearboxes etc, and were very impressive, and very quick! We also seemed to be in front of the largest incident of the day (a car came through all the chicane barriers backwards at some pace, also taking out a concrete drum and suffering no major external damage, just ruined suspension. Luckily, no injuries from it.

I took a LOT of pics, as I always seem to do so, so below are a selection of them, and also the link to the full album is here for anyone interested... http://flic.kr/s/aHsjTEPhUV
