Well, sold my BMW 2 weekends ago, was a great car but unfortunately a bit to bland and boring, have had my heart set on another impreza for a few months now, just been waiting on the right one to come up.

I made a for sale add on subaru forum and receive a private message off an old member, he had a 2003 JDM STI which is what i was looking for, he had owned it since 2004, purchased from new and had all the paperwork from being imported (rare to see one owner on a V5 for an impreza!) , being a 55 year old enthusiast he has really looked after this evidently

Anyway, here it is below, just 35k on the clock and as you can see less then 4000 miles in the last 4 years the condition is immaculate and I felt like i was robbing him offering him the measly sum of 7k for it!

It is at the moment standard other then a few nice mods which are as below:

18" Prodrive P-WRC wheels
Dynamx Gauges
Remap on Ecutek for 97 ron
Knocklink

The reason I wanted and waited for a JDM one is because having a UK one before i wanted one better out of the box, so the JDM for those who dont know have the following benefits over the UK:

- Twinscroll Turbo
- Equal length headers
- 8k RPM limit
- Quick rack steering
- Shorter gear ratios
- Better/stronger engine (nitrided crank and more aggresive cams)
- Rear Wiper
- Xenons
- Auto Intercooler spray
- DCCD
- Front strut brace

Having owned a UK STI and modified it to around 400bhp the difference is unreal, even as the car is now with just a remap (still standard cats) the car is very quick, the extra power band makes the car so much more driveable, Its not been tested but i would estimate the power at current to only be around 320bhp but it feels alot faster.

My plans are as follows:

- Full decat exhaust
- Panel filter
- Fuel Pump
- Remap for 99 Ron, i expect with the above to see around the 350/360 mark which will keep me happy for a while
- Coilovers after the above

Then when I get used to the power and towards the end of the year I am debating whether to consider going for a billet twinscroll turbo, a LM400 billet twinscroll which should see me to around the 400 mark, should not neet to change intercooler, air box or anything else to get there, which is what i am wanting.

Anyway some pics below after a well needed clean, as said its such a clean car, I am very happy.

First thing i have done is fit a nice Zunsport grill, i wanted one before on my old one but could not fit it because of a front mount, fills a nice gap on the front bumper on these i think.

Before:

Mid Way (bit daunting drilling into your front bumper)

And end result

Nice one Barnshaw, good deal that for a JDM car.

I've been playing with my DCCD a lot recently, I'm shocked with how much different it makes the car to drive when getting a bit enthusiastic, wish I tinkered with it earlier - so have a play.

The zunsport grill looks alright in black, I absolutely hate the chrome version of it.

Did you have equal length headers on your old one? I'm pretty sure I'd miss the noise too much, but seem to remember you did it on your UK spec car anyway(?) Need some sound clips of yours, apparently some torque to be had from going E-L.

yes i had equal length headers on the old one, it did change the note, still had the burble just not as much, however it made a fantastic noise on boost, sounded more like a superbike, very enjoyable, preffered it over the previous noise if I am being honest!

PS - the chrome grills are awful lol, even worse with the top and bottom one

Looks really clean. Nice car.
Not into scooby's but the spec sounds worth the hunt over a uk one.

That's a pretty impressive spec over the UK ones. Seems to be a reason people get a JDM one then and not weird Internet based masterbation.

Looks great in silver think this is the best shape imprezza! Wheels look small though? Need some of those WR1 jobs on it. Grille looks good, makes it look a tax modern and hats off to you drilling your own bumper!

8k rev limit is tasty. Does the power band suit? Or does it tail off before then being turbo?

its very nice jambo, pulls all the way to the redline, its on the standard exhaust aswell so with a full decat can imagine it will only get better, the different gearing makes it much more drivable, always seem to be in the powerband, impressed with it.

Nice! Do still really like these. Don't know a huge amount about them though Can see from above why the JDM is the one to go for though! Does it make much of a difference (if any) to insurance premiums etc out of interest?

its a smidgen higher rich, talking about maybe a hundred quid more for me, they are cheaper to tax though, only 220 quid for 12 months on this so swings and roundabouts.
