Missus is after a new car, wants an mx5.

This is spitting distance from ours. Before we go and look at it, what's wrong with it. It's the right spec, good colour, right age and nice mileage

Mk2.5s have more kit than a mk1 while driving in exactly the same way. It also has 148 hp, a LSD and Bilstien shocks

Go and check prices of the other mk2.5 sports. You know I've had a mk1 right?

Mk2s do rot worse, and they rot from the inside out.

Mk1s get rot on the sills but not on the chassis rails like the mk2 does. Also to increase the chassis strength for ncap tests the mk2 had parts strengthened by using more layers of metal sandwiched together. The layers trap moisture and rot from the inside out, so when you first see signs of it it's already too late.

This is reflected in how little they cost, because people are recognising the bodies just don't last. Your money would be far better invested in a clean mk1.

It's ten years old that's what's wrong with it.

Much prefer this shape over the Mk1. A friend had one years ago and I was surprised how tiny it is inside and I'm only 5" 10!

They're just far more 'complete' as well, interior trimmings, projector lamps, abs, the hood design has been refined.

Has she considered an Audi TT?

These are serioulsy cheap cars now.

I've been considering a 3.2 v6 as a second car. It's paying a decent chunk on road tax on the 2 cars that will annoy me.
